The Maestrazgo, (known as The Maestrat), is an area of inland Castellon spanning some of the most pictureque and stunning stretches of mountains and valleys, running parallel to the coastline of the Costa Azahar. Historic hilltop villages, caves, peaks and gorges, uncrowded roads, sleepy villages that time forgot, the Templars, the Moors, Castles and national parklands make The Maestrat a very special and unique area; it has to be seen to be appreciated.
Costa del Azahar is 112km of stunning Mediterranean coastline, bounded by the regions of Catalunya to the north, Aragon to the west and Costa Blanca to the south. It’s a spectacular landscape of green hills, rugged pine mountains, long golden beaches and busy, traditional fishing villages.
The Costa del Azahar is still a relatively undiscovered area, full of surprises and quintessential Spanish charm.
The main city, Valencia, hosted the world’s premier yachting event – The Americas Cup – in 2007, an event that brought enormous prestige, international interest and investment to the area.
The town itself has an ancient core that has spectacular churches and is steeped in Roman history. The beach and coastal areas are not over developed. The new aquarium and science centre is centre of stunning prize architecture and the focus of an imaginative devolpment.
Stunning mountains, green valleys, sweeping hills and warm and welcoming local people make The Maestrat one of the most appealing and unspoilt regions of Spain.

The Maestrazgo (Maestrat) region of Inland Castellon is little known. It is as yet undiscovered and enjoys tranquility and seclusion as well as stunning mountains and valleys. But with the new Castellon Azahar airport under construction tourism will grow and property prices will rise. This area is, without doubt, one of Spain´s gems.
It is destined to become one of the most popular destinations for people who appreciate "Real Spain".
The beaches of Costa Azahar are within very easy travelling distance yet they are far enough away not to bring coastal chaos.
The Maestrazgo is an excellent place in which to invest in property. In the Maestrazgo prices are still reasonable, the cost of living is low and the local people welcome visitors and new residents into their rural communities. There are no urbanisations here, just unspoilt countryside and paradise waiting to be discovered.
Welcome to the Maestrat
